We went to KL for Wei-Han's grandmother's 90th birthday over a weekend in August with Wei-Han's parents. We met up with Wei-Hoe and Chui Yan in KL, amongst other relatives and friends. We stayed at a lovely hotel, Le Meridien as we got a discount from Wei-Han's cousin who works there. The birthday dinner went well, and Matthew got to attend for a couple of hours before he said that he was tired and wanted to go back upstairs. It was nice to watch him interact with Wei-Han's cousin's son, Ryan who was born only a week before him.

Matthew tried the slippery slide at the hotel pool, which he declared that it was not for him, and plenty of fun hanging out with his grandparents. Mia who is now much more relaxed with strangers mostly spent her time crawling around the hotel suite which she enjoyed since it was carpeted.

Overall it was a good trip, and it was nice to catch up with some relatives again, albeit brief.

Wei-Han's parents spent a few more days in Singapore with us after that and that was a treat.

July saw the passing of Wei-Han's birthday. I planned a surprise birthday breakfast at our home one Saturday morning and had a few of his closer friends come. It was a nice time of catching up while filling ourselves with blueberry pancakes, toast, bacon, eggs and mangoes. Wei-Han had absolutely no idea until a few people arrived so that was good.

For Wei-Han's birthday, he got to go for a golf weekend with 3 other friends from church. He flew to Bangkok and played something like 4 rounds of golf, had some massage and good food. He had a great time with his friends. One of the highlights of that weekend was that he scored a hole in one, and the golf course awarded him with a business class return from Bangkok to Hong Kong! I started to get ideas about him pursuing a career in golf after that!

My brother and sister in law, Daniel and Patricia also visited us in July. It was really nice catching up with them and of course, Matthew loved having them around. He got to go on another ride on the hot air balloon that he always talks about.
