We just returned from a week in Perth. We stayed at one of the cottages in a so called 'farm' called the River Retreat. It's technically not a farm though, it's just a pretend farm, perfect for young families who want to get away from the city and meet and feed farm animals without having to drive more than 1/2 hr from the airport - that's us!

Wei-Han's parents joined us for most of the week and it was great to catch up and of course for the kids to see and play with them again.

We had glorious sunny winter weather all week. The days were just beautiful, blue cloudless sky, it was deliciously warm in the sun everyday. The nights were cold, but with heaters, it was not as noticeable, especially since we never went out once the sun went down.

We fed animals once to twice daily, once collected free range chicken eggs and cooked them for breakfast, took walks to the river, drove to the beach, ate at a nice beachside restaurant and visited wineries, and the Margaret River chocolate factory. Most of all, we just sat around and let Matthew just run around in the vast space of green grass and explore the place. There was a playground set up with a sandpit, mini swings, larger swings, floor checkers (all we did with that was watch Matthew build a tall tower with the large wooden pieces), and of course the animals nearby which we would frequently visit.

Amazingly, there was a golf course next to us. So Matthew got to play golf with Wei-Han much to his delight, everyday. For them, life couldn't get any better than that!
