It is about time I contributed to the Kim's blog. The excuse of being busy can only last for so long.
Let me start by saying that I have the most adorable family. Mia is now 15 months old and my relationship with her has grown exponentially since September.... specifically when she stopped relying on Fiona's feeding vessels. She is feisty, expressive and demanding, but has that something that drives a father crazy about her. She has been walking for awhile now and is saying a few words, so it looks like it is only a matter of time before she joins her brother in non-stop chatter.
Matthew continues to be the happy little Caesar in the household. He is learning that his demands are not always reasonable and is being taught to behave properly when things don't necessarily go his way. Like all boys, he is active, and now goes to preschool next door three half-days a week. He has dropped his nap and always loves a story. His passion to hit the little white ball into the hole continues, and he is often the one asking dad to bring him to the golf course every weekend... even when I need a break from it.
Time is flying so fast. Before long, these kids will be grown up. I find myself wanting to spend more time with them, but I know I am constrained by my work and travel commitments, which has recently taken me to China, India, Vietnam and Thailand. But 2007 looks like it should have less travel for me as the company moves towards becoming a public company. So I'm looking forward to that.
I haven't forgotten about my lovely wife, who has been a bed rock of support at home. Sometimes i have a bad habit of overlooking her as I might focus too much on the kids, work, golf, X-Box buddies,... etc (terrible isn't it?). However, only through the grace of God do I have this loving wife and family, and the strong network of friends we have developed, which has been such a blessing to us in the good and challenging times that we have had. Suffice to say that Fiona and I are very much enjoying our time here in Singapore. We have been here six years now, and each year has brought a different experience and different people into our lives. Only God knows how long more we will be here and what paths will be presented to us.
That's it for me for now. Take care.
